Friendship Necklace with Krobo Bead (2025)

Krobo Beads from Ghana (originally from bone or stone) are one by one hand made by highly skilled artisans. Since the 9^th Century they are used for special rites and ceremony’s and can symbolize many things.

In Accra’s Art Gallery I handpicked five (original) Krobo Beads made of glass and felted five necklaces which symbolize friendship to me: multi colored, many layers, unbreakable as felt is and made with love. Every cord has one color the others doesn’t have and is therefore unique, as friendship is. The fifth cord has all the used colors (and one new one) and will be mine.
